JBoss Mail Server field reports/case studies

    acoliver

This topic/thread is for users to report their successful uses and use cases of JBoss Mail Server. It is not a topic to post your questions or complaints on (do that in another thread).

      Good questions to answer

What does your JBoss Mail Server-based system do?
What does your network/hardware topology look like?
Why did you select JBoss Mail Server?
      What was the best feature?
How easy was it to install?
      What modifications did you make?
How did you take advantage of its extensibility?

          Hey Guys,

I'll be editing and enriching further, as time allows, so bare with me...Oh, and why hasn't anyone else posted here...kinda spooky?

What does your JBoss Mail Server-based system do?
We would like to be able to use two instances of it, one for corporate emails and one for "website related/external". It seems JBoss Mail Server will allow us to accomplish this, though I imagine the port and ip address's setup may be tricky.
          Sorry...More to follow!

What does your network/hardware topology look like?
Currently only have one instance of JBoss Mail Server running as a test email server on our "webserver"
          Sorry...More to follow!

Why did you select JBoss Mail Server?
Free is obvious, but it was/is centered around a well known and apparentlly stable product known as JBoss AS. Even though it has not had its initial release yet, it seems stable, and as well, it has been pointed out that "Although JBoss Mail Server has not yet released its 1.0 final, it is seeing production adoption as an MBA server in the telecommunications industry as well as general use in small to mid-sized organizations"
          Sorry...More to follow!

          What was the best feature?
          Sorry...More to follow!

How easy was it to install?
Fairly Easy, Windows 2003 Standard Edition
BTW: is it impossible/possible to "port" JBossAS and MS to run in IIS 6.0 or 5.0 instead of Apache/Tomcat/Jakarta?
          Sorry...More to follow!

          What modifications did you make?
Modifying a mail listener to POST to web service on incoming email
          !Thus far!
          Sorry...More to follow!

How did you take advantage of its extensibility?
          Is very extendible...
          Sorry...More to follow!
