15. Re: JBMS fails on first start-up...multiple errors
danaris Jun 5, 2006 9:56 AM (in response to danaris)Err...OK, I spoke too soon. Not quite perfectly.
Though I set up the users in the Alias table, it's not delivering mail (throws an exception and says it can't find the local user), and when I try to check mail through POP (no TLS this time!), it seems to time out, and there's a "SocketException: socket closed" in the log.
Any ideas about these issues?
Thanks.

17. Re: JBMS fails on first start-up...multiple errors
acoliver Jun 5, 2006 9:59 AM (in response to danaris)there is a problem in M5-pre1 with mysql. It is fixed in the branch and head.

18. Re: JBMS fails on first start-up...multiple errors
danaris Jun 5, 2006 11:38 AM (in response to danaris)Aha; that'll be it, then, as I'm using MySQL.
So...to get these changes I presume I'd have to check out the latest from CVS and build from source?
Guess I'll get started...

19. Re: JBMS fails on first start-up...multiple errors
danaris Jun 5, 2006 2:46 PM (in response to danaris)Hmm...can't seem to get a current checkout of jboss-mail to build. It keeps trying to get org.hibernate.annotations.Fetch, which I can't find.
Any advice?

20. Re: JBMS fails on first start-up...multiple errors
acoliver Jun 5, 2006 3:11 PM (in response to danaris)Head requires 4.0.4GA (not RC2)

21. Re: JBMS fails on first start-up...multiple errors
danaris Jun 5, 2006 4:25 PM (in response to danaris)I have a copy of 4.0.4GA, and its server/default/lib/hibernate-annotations.jar doesn't have org.hibernate.annotations.Fetch in it, at least not that I can see...
I also checked out a couple of different copies of hibernate-annotations.jar from different places in CVS, and didn't see org.hibernate.annotations.Fetch in them, either.

acoliver Jun 6, 2006 5:54 AM (in response to danaris)are you sure? http://fisheye.jboss.org/viewrep/Hibernate/trunk/HibernateExt/metadata/src/java/org/hibernate/annotations/Fetch.java?
I'm dinking with a different branch ATM, but this built for me like 2 days ago.... -

mikezzz Jun 6, 2006 6:29 AM (in response to danaris)I ran into the same issue with 4.0.4CR2 and the JBAS installer labeled jboss-4.0.4.GA-Patch1-installer.jar fixed the problem (not sure about the significance of the Patch1 bit).

25. Re: JBMS fails on first start-up...multiple errors
danaris Jun 6, 2006 8:27 AM (in response to danaris)Ah, thanks; I was checking out jars from the JBoss repository. I'll try a checkout of HibernateExt and see how I do...
Sorry for being a little bumbling about this; I'm still a little new to dealing with a full-fledged open-source project :-)

26. Re: JBMS fails on first start-up...multiple errors
acoliver Jun 6, 2006 9:39 AM (in response to danaris)No problem. Do note that releases will be different than milestones. Ya'll are helping us GET to the release by flushing out these issues. And of course I'm an idiot for not seeing the patch1 in the GA. ... Never discount the possibility that I'm just insufficiently caffeinated. :-)

27. Re: JBMS fails on first start-up...multiple errors
danaris Jun 6, 2006 4:43 PM (in response to danaris)OK, I've gotten a little better organized now, I think...
I have a full checkout of jboss-head, with jboss-mail in it, and they build fine. However, I get some exceptions at runtime...there are several of them, and I'm not sure which are actually relevant.
However, when I try to send an email to a local address, I get a whole series of exceptions, starting with an UndeclaredThrowableException with a cause of "javax.management.InstanceNotFoundException: jboss.mail:type=MailServices, name=MailListManager is not registered." There follows a series of RuntimeMBeanExceptions with that same exception as their root cause, then the UndeclaredThrowableException, and RuntimeMBeanExceptions again...rinse and repeat.
If you like, I can provide a full server.log, but there's a bit much to post inline.

28. Re: JBMS fails on first start-up...multiple errors
acoliver Jun 7, 2006 8:23 AM (in response to danaris)I'll take a look. Generally those exceptions have a root cause (often a DB/Hibernate thing).

danaris Jun 8, 2006 8:39 AM (in response to danaris)OK, I've posted it at http://homepage.mac.com/danaris/server.log.
Hope it's of some use...
