javax.ejb.RemoveException: Could not remove [.716.]

Any idea why I get the above error when I call remove on a CMP Entity Bean? I am able to remove some entities but not others. (716 is the PK of the bean)
I also access the database through JDBC (in a strictly read-only fashion)

Look in server/default/log/server.log
It should have the causing exception.
