We have also seen this problem with
stateless session beans, BMP, CMT.
Does anybody know what version of jBoss this was fixed in?

As stated above,

JBoss 3.2 has support for this. There are fundamental problems
with Oracle's support for XA that require the track connection by
tx which 3.2 provides.
