Your problem is a network one and quite classic when talking about distributed applications. If your servers are separated by the public network (Internet), you certainly have security policy and equipments (firewall for example).
The protocols used by components on distributed systems are specifics (either DCOM ,RMI/IIOP or CORBA). You have to authorize and limits the ports used for that.

I would also suggest that you should not be attempting to configure JBoss in this way as you do not know what security holes you are about to open up.
