Distributed transactions between appservers

Hello,

I have seen this question being asked before but I have never seen a clear answer. We have a situation where we need distributed transactions between two JVMs/two JBoss appservers and EJBs (two separate applications on two separate JVMs and on two separate JBoss instances). From what I have read this isn't possible, but I just want to make sure if this possible to do this with JBoss today? If it is, in which release and where can I read about it? If not, will it be available in a fututure release and when will it be available?

Thanks for your response. I have seen that page before and I'm just qurious what "Integrate a portion of ArjunaTS into JBoss Application Server as an alternative to the existing transaction manager" means. Does this include the Distributed Transaction stuff? This is a rather important question for us so will the support for Distributed Transactions be available in JBoss by the end of Q1 2006? And if that is the case, will it be included in a JBoss RC or is it a new production release?

I don't know what the details of the integration are yet.

Concerning the current 4.0.x branch, it should be made available as a drop-in replacement for the next minor release.

Concerning the 5.0.x branch, the JTA portion of the new TM will be available per default in JBoss and the JTS portion will be available as a plugin (not everybody needs JTS and distributed features)
