EJB2 Entity bean: Max length of a string stored in DB?

Hi,

What is the maximum character length of a string that can be stored in a database when the table is created by an EJB2 Entity Bean?

Is it configurable?

Sorry. Let me elaborate a bit more:

I'm using EJB2 CMP. When a database table is created, if nothing is specified, what is the default VARCHAR length of string/character data? Is it 255?
