one build.xml.......for complete project.....how to???

i want to make a single build.xml to which i can give 2 command line argument ......1) the path of the source directory (where my class files r placed)....2)my destination directory(where it should place its jar,war,ear file).......coz command line argument will save me from hard coding the absolute path at each and every place.........for that.....i have merged the two build.xml files.....in the example documentation.......but when i run it....it gives the following error.......Plz see if there is something wrong with build.xml or its invocation or both...-;)

Use -Dproperty=value to pass in property values to your script otherwise it uses command line arguments to find the target to run.

My approach is to have an external file with changeable properties in it and then to change the properties I want to a different file I pass the filename in via -DpropFile=myserver.properties.

one thing more i want to ask is that.....how u refer to var1 and var2 in your build.xml file ?????????? coz they r not property so ${var1} and ${var2} is not possible.

i feel happy to tell u that i'm able to get command line arguments using -D= but when there r more than one command line arguments then your approach is perfect

This sets the up as properties so ${var1} should be possible, the same with the -D flag.

The properties must be defined within the project tag

but one thing is still unclear ,when i give absolute path
in the properties file like

then it gives error

Ant 1.4 supports the following useful tasks when developing/deploying J2EE-applications:

1. war
2. ear

So, instead of having to mess around with lots of includes, copies etc. to build my wars and ears as I used to do, I now use this for building my wars:








Simple, huh? About the same for ears. Files is automatically plassed in the appropriate directories. (classes to WEB-INF/classes, etc.)

If you want a more complete example, I can probably post the build.xml I use for my current project.
