Error deploying applicotion: web-app not declared

Hello, people. I got the following messages when trying to deploy a simple web application into JBoss-2.4.2-Catalina-4.0

[Default] PARSE error at line 3 column -1
[Default] org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Element type "web-app" is not declared.
[EmbeddedCatalinaServiceSX] ContextConfig[/erp-teste] Parse error in application web.xml

Do you have a web-app.xml file in the WEB-INF directory of you war file and does it have XML in it that has the web-app tag around any other tags?

No, I got only the 'web.xml' file. Here it's contents:

<web-app>
<display-name>Teste de Cliente</display-name>


<servlet-name>TestServlet</servlet-name>
Teste de Unidade de Cliente
<servlet-class>com.tld.erp.TestServlet</servlet-class>

<url-pattern>/test</url-pattern>

Sorry I meant web.xml not web-app.xml.

The other consideration is that tomcat 4 may require a doctype below the ?xml tag. The doctype is below.

<!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.2//EN" "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd">

I'll try my stuff out on Tomcat 4 tonight and see what happens.
