This would make this web app the root application.

<servlet-name>servletname</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>YourServletClass</servlet-class>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>servletname</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/servletname</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
