jboss-3.0.3/tomcat-4.1.12 and apache 2.0.43

hi,

i have the following configuration:
- jboss-3.0.3/tomcat-4.1.12
- apache 2.0.43

i can make requests to the HttpConnector (port 8080) just fine, but when i try to go through apache, jboss logs the following to the console:

INFO [org.jboss.web.localhost.Engine] Ajp13Processor[8013][4] [Ajp13] incomplete read, waited #-1 got only 0
INFO [org.jboss.web.localhost.Engine] Ajp13Processor[8013][4] [Ajp13] Error receiving message

any thoughts on why this is not working?
any help would be greatly appreciated,
