Deployment Bug in JBoss 3.04 Tomcat 4.1.12

      Hello,

I've found a bug regarding the deployment of WARs. I'm currently using JBoss 3.04 with integrated Tomcat 4.1.12 on a Windows 2000 Machine, using JDK 1.4.

Now I wanted to put one of my WAR Archives into the root context, and associate it with a given virtual domain. I added some entries into that Tomcat-4.1.12-service.xml (or something similar, unfortunately in writing this I don't have access to the server) for the host, and wrote a matching jboss-web.xml file.

It's not the question whether I did this right, because actually it *does* work. The problem is, it does *only* work when I deploy my WAR as a directory, not if I deploy it as an archive file. When I deploy it as an Archive, the jboss-web.xml file seems to get ignored. The Archive files themselves are intact, and work well with JBoss if I simply unpack them ..

This is pretty bothersome, since I'd like to hot-deploy/undeploy war archives on that virtual domain. But with a directory, it's not possible to do that cleanly without stoppping the server.

Now I did not find a proper place to place this bug report, and maybe this bug has been fixed in the current development release or something like that. If there is already a solution available, I'd be glad if you could point me to it. Otherwise I'd be glad to be pointed to the proper place to file a bug report ..

      with best regards,

      Kai Londenberg
