rajkaushik Sep 23, 2004 9:59 AM (in response to thelemmings)Hi
Did any one solved the problem of serving static content using jboss-tomcat?
In Tomcat standalone, I edited the server.xml file and add
in the end of host tag. Everything works perfect.
But this solution is not working with Jboss+Tomcat?
Any ideas out there?

rajkaushik Sep 23, 2004 11:06 AM (in response to thelemmings)I figured it out. There is a little trick. You will have to copy web.xml to /conf directory:
Step 1 : Copy a default web.xml from <JBOSS_HOME>/server/<config-name>/deploy/jbossweb-tomcat50.sar and place it in the <JBOSS_HOME>/server/<config-name>/conf directory
Step 2 : Edit <JBOSS_HOME>/server/<config-name>/deploy/jbossweb-tomcat50.sar/server.xml and add a Context element under Host.(Step similar to standalone TC)
<Host name="localhost" ...>
<!-- ADD static benchmark DIRECTORY -->

anil.saldhana Sep 23, 2004 11:51 AM (in response to thelemmings)This hack is already documented at the following wiki page:
http://www.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=ExternalDirectories
Please try to post your questions in the user forum. Also make it a habit to visit the Jboss wiki pages. We post a lot of information there. -
5. Re: Serving static content stored in any directory
plamarque Nov 14, 2004 6:59 AM (in response to thelemmings)I followed the instructions for jboss-3.2.3/tomcat-4.1.x as described at :
http://www.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=ExternalDirectories
I am using jboss-3.2.0+tomcat-4.1.24 but it doesn't seem to work. Are there some specific steps for it to work on jboss 3.2.0?
thks. -

Have you solved this problem? -

jaap Jan 17, 2006 5:19 PM (in response to thelemmings)Hi,
Just strugged with the same issue. I found that copying the web.xml to the conf directory is not necessary.
What worked for me (JBoss 4) is to edit server.xml. Set the Context as part of the Host configuration. But, you should put this Context _before_ the DefaultContext and after the Alias settings. If you put it after DefaultContext it will not work.

8. Re: Serving static content stored in any directory
ramone1234 Jan 25, 2006 1:16 PM (in response to thelemmings)I am running JBoss 3.2.8 + Tomcat 5.0. I followed all the steps on http://www.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=ExternalDirectories but it did work out.
Has anybody got this issue working on this JBoss version?
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance,
Fernando
