jsp:param name attribute Weblogic - JBOSS Migration

Hi, I am in the process of migrating one of our projects from Weblogic to Jboss. Everything is going quite well until I bring up pages that contain an expression in the name attribute of jsp:param

For example we currently have a lot of the following in many jsp's

<jsp:param name="<%=MyForm.FORM_STYLE%>" value="registerStyle"/>

I get the follwing error when bringing up the page:

[jsp] - Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception
org.apache.jasper.JasperException: /editProfileContent.jsp(730,0) The name attribute of the jsp:param standard action does not accept any expressions
 at org.apache.jasper.compiler.DefaultErrorHandler.jspError(DefaultErrorHandler.java:39)

Weblogic never complained about this. Does anyone have any idea of a work around? Or any thoughts on this.

For some reason, this is forbidden in the specification (see section 1.14.1).

Yes I realize that this is not part of the spec. Unfortunately it was done this way in weblogic and, weblogic did not complain. I'm looking for a work around because we have some 500 jsp's with this in them. Is there anyway to override the standard jsp taglib or does anyone have any other thoughts.

I know this is a really old thread, but I am facing the same issue many years later.

Here is how I simply solved the issue :

<%-- Weblogic working code, but not on JBoss --%>

     <jsp:include  page="/page.do">

          <jsp:param name="<%=paramName%>" value="<%=paramValue%>" />

     </jsp:include>

<%-- JBoss working code --%>

     <% String url = "/page.do?"+paramName + "=" +  paramValue ;  %>

     <jsp:include  page="<%= url %>" />

If you have many JSPs, eclipse search & replace feature using regular expressions will really help.

Hope it will help someone like me, having to migrate a really old application
