Testing XA methods in JMS

Hi

I am testing JMS provided by J2EE 1.3.
I tested all the topic except XA related topic such as XAConnection, XASession.
Can I use XAConnection and XASession in my simple jms sender or receiver?
Does this testing required jboss server installed?
