Problem with custom components

Hi
I have a custom tabbed pane component which is rendered as .
When the screen is initially loaded the component is rendered fine.But once an ajax request is made which rerenders the output panel containing the tabbedPane,tabs are not displayed and contents of all tabs are displayed together.
What all things i need to do to make the custom components A4J compatible ?
