1. Re: Topic w/ selector message cache problem
skendorski Sep 9, 2002 12:47 PM (in response to reynard2000)I am also seeing this same problem with no idea how to fix it. High/Max Memory configuration changes shift when the problem occurs, but once the caching hits the disk, performance grinds to a halt.
Is anyone using JBossMQ with multiple publishers, subscribers, selectors and non-durable topics without performance problems? -

hchirino Sep 18, 2002 12:29 AM (in response to reynard2000)Yes.. that problem should have been fixed. I'm not 100% sure it made it into the 3.x series. Could you do a CVS build and test against that version??
I could have sworn that problem had been fixed.

cstone Oct 25, 2002 5:13 PM (in response to reynard2000)I am glad to hear that someone thinks this memory leak has been fixed, however, it is clear that the fix has not yet made it into the 3.X code line. I am on 3.0.3 and the problem is there.
For my company, this is a huge show-stopper for JBossMQ; we will probably have to use something else if it is not cleared up soon. And it is also critical for many other people who have posted similar problems on the following thread:
http://www.jboss.org/modules/bb/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=forums/ anyone who works on JBossMQ code give us a clue as to what the status of this issue is and when it may get resolved?
Thanks in advance... -

adrian.brock Oct 28, 2002 2:07 PM (in response to reynard2000)Hi Guys,
Just committed a fix for this.
If you cannot wait for the 3.0.4 release later this
week? You can get the fixed version from CVS.
The problem:
Messages that didn't the match selector were dropped,
but not removed from the message cache.
This lead to the cache overflowing onto disk
and eventually out of memory of problems.

Adrian -

adrian.brock Nov 1, 2002 9:04 PM (in response to reynard2000)When I spoked to Scott earlier today,
he said is waiting for some more information on
what could be important bugs.
Once these are proved non-bugs or fixed, it will
be released.

11. Re: Topic w/ selector message cache problem
davemak Nov 4, 2002 6:29 PM (in response to reynard2000)Our initial tests confirm that the issue is fixed in 3.0.4. Messages that used to be stored permanently to the cache directory are now [correctly] deleted as soon as they are delivered to all subscribers, even when selectors are used, and even when those selectors would prevent any subscriber from receiving the message.
