Multiple Consumers on a Queue: consumption slow-down

Hi,

we have developed an application with N consumers listening from a single queue.

Unfortunately we noticed that, as we put more messages on a queue, the consumption time increased as if the queue could be spooled more slowly.

To get around the problem we have decided to split the queue in N sub-queues, one for each consumer.

Any idea on how to solve the problem?
