1. Re: Two Phase Commit - JMS/JDBC
adrian.brock May 19, 2003 9:33 AM (in response to gorgatz)There is no tranaction logging in the jboss
transaction monitor.
It is being implemented for jboss4.

2. Re: Two Phase Commit - JMS/JDBC
jbrosenberg May 23, 2003 4:22 AM (in response to gorgatz)What of the original question regarding 2-phase commit?
Can one EJB jBoss instance receiving a JMS message from a different JMS jBoss instance (and with a different db backing the JMS store from the EJB store) successfully receive the message and process data as a result in a single 2-phase committed transaction? -
3. Re: Two Phase Commit - JMS/JDBC
adrian.brock May 23, 2003 2:16 PM (in response to gorgatz)Yes.
JBossMQ has XA support.
You will need an XA adaptor for the db
as well. The only open source one I know of
is Firebird.
Oracle, SQL Server or Sybase have XA support.

haraldgliebe May 23, 2003 6:21 PM (in response to gorgatz)SAP DB (www.sapdb.org) is another open source DB with XA support.

5. Re: Two Phase Commit - JMS/JDBC
jbrosenberg May 24, 2003 3:39 AM (in response to gorgatz)What about PostGres?
Is it possible to have XA support over heterogeneous db's, such as 1 Oracle db and 1 PostGres db?

6. Re: Two Phase Commit - JMS/JDBC
adrian.brock May 25, 2003 7:56 AM (in response to gorgatz)To do XA, all the drivers must be XA.
I don't think Postgres has one.

7. Re: Two Phase Commit - JMS/JDBC
sysuser1 May 29, 2003 1:49 PM (in response to gorgatz)Without transaction logging, can JBoss guarantee the recovery of a distributed transaction doing a two-phase commit in the event of failure ?

8. Re: Two Phase Commit - JMS/JDBC
adrian.brock May 30, 2003 7:51 AM (in response to gorgatz)No.
If JBoss crashes between a prepare and
a commit you will have to manually recover
that transaction.

Adrian
