1. Re: Socket connection from SessionBean
nphelps Jul 11, 2003 9:00 AM (in response to hirosh101)You're not supposed to open a socket, but I don't think many J2EE Impls actually prohibit you from doing so. If you're in a pinch, go for it. If you've got time, look into treating this business process as an external EIS and write a JCA adaptor--they can do ANYTHING they want per the spec.

hirosh101 Jul 11, 2003 9:24 AM (in response to hirosh101)Hello
That problem occurs repeatedly ! Do you know some example code and/or some ready to use classes ?
Bye

nphelps Jul 11, 2003 10:58 AM (in response to hirosh101)Read the JCA spec if you are going to us a JCA adaptor. Otherwise, just open a socket like normal.

hirosh101 Jul 11, 2003 11:05 AM (in response to hirosh101)But it is forbidden,
coz if the bean goes passive !

nphelps Jul 11, 2003 11:12 AM (in response to hirosh101)Yes, you have to deal with that case if you're just going to open a socket in a bean. However, if you use a JCA connector, you can do anything you want.

hirosh101 Jul 11, 2003 11:16 AM (in response to hirosh101)I have really big pressure.
don't you know a finished implementation?

A good url ?

7. Re: Socket connection from SessionBean
fboss Jul 14, 2003 1:32 PM (in response to hirosh101)I would just write a utility class (non-ejb) that does the open socket/close socket, and have your EJB call taht class for any socket related things.

8. Re: Socket connection from SessionBean
hirosh101 Jul 21, 2003 2:57 PM (in response to hirosh101)Did you mean a serialized class that delegates by a session bean ? When not, could you explain me that !

9. Re: Socket connection from SessionBean
hirosh101 Jul 30, 2003 4:13 AM (in response to hirosh101)Hello,
now I have a result. Kevin Boone (http://www.kevinboone.com) explains in his EJB Book a
good example for a Socket-JCA.
Another good way is to use
URL-ConnectionFactory. Search in jboss-forums with the following words: url connection. And you get a result where i explain how to configure a factory by using
xdoclet.
Thanx
i'm out
