1. Re: Rollback affects both Hypersonic database and Oracle
genman Jul 27, 2005 12:56 AM (in response to cweaver)Re: your solution. Would it be so difficult to post your JBoss version and the specific error conditions you got?
One alternative would be to branch a single message (request) into multiple messages, and have each of the parts of the request processed independently. -

cweaver Jul 27, 2005 9:22 AM (in response to cweaver)Thanks genman
1. jboss - 4.0.1
2. No error conditions except the timeout issue while the CMP method waits for a new transaction. This is just a standard timeout error. One alternative would be to branch a single message (request) into multiple messages, and have each of the parts of the request processed independently.
This will solve part of my problem however if I process even one message which calls one CMP method where the method fails(rollback) then the message queue will rollback its delete of the message from the queue and begin to reprocess it. This will create a tight loop, eat resourses and eventually crash. -
3. Re: Rollback affects both Hypersonic database and Oracle
genman Jul 27, 2005 3:55 PM (in response to cweaver)CWEAVER - You can limit the number of retries to 1 or 2. The default is 10, so I don't see how it could cause a crash.

cweaver Jul 27, 2005 8:50 PM (in response to cweaver)Thanks again genman.
Where do you set the max retries? -
5. Re: Rollback affects both Hypersonic database and Oracle
genman Jul 27, 2005 9:17 PM (in response to cweaver)An MDB only processes the same message ten times, after that it goes to the DLQ (dead letter queue.)

6. Re: Rollback affects both Hypersonic database and Oracle
cweaver Jul 28, 2005 8:14 AM (in response to cweaver)Ok, where do I set the retry to 1. If my EJB method rollsback I don't want to try again at all.
Where do I set the retries to a different number.
Thanks in advance.
