using JbossMQ's MessageCache standalone?

Hi all,

I have a need for a product that does exactly what MessageCache does with it's SoftReferences and high/max memory marks. It's features would be useful for any object - not just a message of some sort. I guess what I'm looking for is a java cache that has similar configurable memory parameters, like JBossMQ's MessageCache.
Anyone have any suggestions??

There is JBoss Cache, the page is here: http://labs.jboss.com/jbosscache/

To emulate the JBossMQ cache, all you have to come up with is some sort of eviction policy that evicted entries if the free memory was below some threshold.
