In this behavior JMS compliant?
Yes, and the rest is an FAQ. -
2. Re: Messages always persistent in Topic
fljmayer Jul 23, 2007 6:12 PM (in response to fljmayer)Hm, I didn't have this problem with previous versions of JBoss.
So is this FAQ answered somewhere? I couldn't find anything on the wiki. -
3. Re: Messages always persistent in Topic
adrian.brock Jul 24, 2007 12:25 PM (in response to fljmayer)Didn't look very hard did you?
I answer this question about once a month in the forums (it's in the FAQ
and the docs as well) and ignore all the duplicates.
Already answered it for this month, so you're just going to have to use search. -
4. Re: Messages always persistent in Topic
fljmayer Jul 25, 2007 10:38 AM (in response to fljmayer)To the contrary, several people here looked pretty hard.
But I have to say, I like your style. Why bother with providing information in a forum when you can simply insult people instead?
But seriously: I you can't answer my questions, please don't reply to my posts in the future. -

adrian.brock Jul 25, 2007 2:51 PM (in response to fljmayer)Okay as long as in return, you post your FAQs in the newbies forum. :-)

6. Re: Messages always persistent in Topic
fljmayer Jul 25, 2007 5:59 PM (in response to fljmayer)I can do that, but I am still trying to figure out which FAQ you mean.
- Your wiki entry (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=JBossMQInterceptorExample)?
- A newer wiki entry which contradicts your wiki entry (http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=DeliveryMode)?
We tried this and it didn't help.
- Or did you mean the admin guide? It provided the information we needed to configure our PersistenceManager, but it indicates in no way that the DeliverMode is ignored. -

adrian.brock Jul 26, 2007 12:33 PM (in response to fljmayer)I thought you didn't want me to answer your questions. ;-)

That supposed "contradition" was explained (again)
only a couple of weeks ago in this forum so again you haven't looked very hard.
http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=104237
Again FAQ doesn't mean you're going to find your exact question in the FAQ.
It means the question has been asked many times before in the forum.
It could also be in the FAQ under some variation, but not necessarily.
In this case it is in the FAQ under both
http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=TuningJBossMQ
where the messages are described as "overflowling onto disk"
and a more direct link under "MemoryUsage"
http://wiki.jboss.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=MessageSoftening
where the behaviour is described in more detailed as well as a link
to the configuration options.
I rest my case. -
8. Re: Messages always persistent in Topic
fljmayer Jul 27, 2007 10:11 AM (in response to fljmayer)Of course I want you to answer my questions, I just don't want to be insulted without getting an answer.
Okay, if I had read the TuningJBossMQ page I would have known what the problem is: overflow into the database. I didn't look for it since the persisted topic messages led me to believe that JBossMQ ignores the DeliveryMode for some reason.
And how am I supposed to know up front which of my questions is an FAQ? A sticky post in this forum might help... -

You mean like "READ THIS FIRST"? :-) -
10. Re: Messages always persistent in Topic
fljmayer Jul 27, 2007 2:10 PM (in response to fljmayer)Yes, a list of common problems (looks like many are described in TuningJBossMQ) would help.
