1. Re: Jopr agent and the multicast 224.16.16.16
mazz Feb 9, 2009 8:55 AM (in response to krz-yamaneko)This is configurable.
See agent-configuration.xml, preference "rhq.communications.multicast-detector.enabled"
Read the comments at the top of that file regarding changes made to it (i.e. changing this file does NOT automatically change your agent's configuration - this file is only read when the agent is started up the very first time or after a --cleanconfig - the comments at the top of this file explain the details). -
2. Re: Jopr agent and the multicast 224.16.16.16
mazz Feb 9, 2009 8:58 AM (in response to krz-yamaneko)BTW: disabling multicast traffic means you'll probably want to disable:
rhq.agent.server-auto-detection
too, since that requires multicast traffic to work (read the comments in agent-configuration.xml on that preference for more details).
Disabling this is normally OK because the agent is also pre-configured to periodically ping the server to help detect when it goes on- and off-line (multicast auto-detection is just faster in detecting a server outage). -

senthur_kumaran Apr 6, 2009 8:40 AM (in response to krz-yamaneko)Hi
I need to stop multicast messages from JON server. Could you please provide the configuration steps to do the same?
Thanks & Regards

5. Re: Jopr agent and the multicast 224.16.16.16
mazz Apr 6, 2009 9:02 AM (in response to krz-yamaneko)Please see the agent-configuration.xml file:
http://svn.rhq-project.org/repos/rhq/trunk/modules/enterprise/agent/src/main/resources/agent-configuration.xml
Specifically, you want to reconfigure the agent so this is false:
rhq.communications.multicast-detector.enabled
BTW: please read the comments at the top of agent-configuration.xml; if you already have a running agent, do not edit this file thinking the edits will take effect :) The comments explain this.
Use the Configuration tab in the UI for your RHQ Agent resources, its easily changed there. There are other ways to update the config, but that's the easiest. -
6. Re: Jopr agent and the multicast 224.16.16.16
mazz Apr 6, 2009 9:03 AM (in response to krz-yamaneko)I think you also have to set this to false too:
rhq.agent.server-auto-detection
