    Jopr 2.2 Sneak Peek

    mazz

Late Friday I svn up'd, built and ran the latest Jopr build.

      I was blown away :)

I am very impressed at what the team has been able to accomplish.

What Jopr 2.2 is today (even in its beta form) is far beyond anything that JBoss ON 1.x ever did or could provide and is much nicer even from the latest releases. Will it solve all your problems? Fix the world's economic crisis? End all wars? No, No and No. But, it is pretty good :)

Here's a sneak peek of what's coming. I was going to build some flash demos, but I didn't know where to begin and it'll take a long time to do them. So, in the meantime, I took some screen snapshots to help convey some of the major new things that are coming:

We really want to get a beta released ASAP, to get it into the community's hands so they can use it and flush out any problems that we haven't caught yet. If it isn't available by the end of Tuesday (the day after tomorrow), I'll be disappointed. If all things go well, perhaps we'll have the beta out by tomorrow.

GA is a little trickier to nail down, because of the vast improvements/changes to the UI, we need to do alot of testing - and cross-browser support has been a challenge (we already see problems with IE6 and IE in general :-( - perhaps with a beta out there, we can get come community involvement to help us fix these browser issues).

In any event, it would be nice if we can get the community Jopr release GA'ed by the end of April (but don't hold me to that). That gives you at least an indication of what kind of timeframe we are looking at. GA should be April-May-ish. With a little bit of community involvement to help out with testing and even bug fixing, it could be earlier.
