15. Re: Create new WAR resource issue
mazz May 19, 2009 11:39 AM (in response to dhartford)Go to Overview>AutoDiscoveryQueue and look at "Both New and Ignored" resources. You need to make sure the platform that your agent is running on has been commited to inventory.
Sounds like either that did not happen or there is a problem on the agent. Look in the agent log file (<agent-install-dir>/logs) for any error messages. -
16. Re: Create new WAR resource issue
dhartford May 19, 2009 11:46 AM (in response to dhartford)I was just digging into what may be the root cause - in the agent logs, there is an:
ERROR 'AgentMain.time-not-synced'
which is probably true. I'm sorting that out first and I'll respond if this truly was the root cause. -
17. Re: Create new WAR resource issue
dhartford May 19, 2009 12:24 PM (in response to dhartford)ANSWER: The time sync issue seems to have fixed the ability to deploy a WAR resource.
It did not correct the ability to drill down in JOPR the remote server resources. Restarting the jopr server also did not correct this problem. Some of the screens in jopr are now throwing null pointer exceptions when looking at this particular remote resources. But at least back to a state to continue evaluating.
Lesson learned: Timesync should be one of the steps when preparing to install an agent. -

mazz May 19, 2009 12:30 PM (in response to dhartford)FYI: Time syncing your boxes is documented in our install docs:
http://jopr.org/confluence/display/JOPR2/Jopr+Server+Installation+Preparation
as well as here:
http://www.redhat.com/docs/en-US/JBoss_ON/2.2/html/Installation_Guide/Installation_Guide-JON_Server_Installation_Guide-Preparation.html
where they say,
"All Jopr Servers and Agents must have synchronized clocks. Clock variations will cause issues in resource synchronization, availability reporting, measurement collections and data, graphing, and importing resources into inventory. Refer to http://www.ntp.org/ for information on installing and configuring NTP to ensure your clocks are synchronized." -
19. Re: Create new WAR resource issue
mazz May 19, 2009 12:33 PM (in response to dhartford)I would bet your inventory is probably in a bad state. Try uninventorying your platform resources (which removes all resources from that platform's agent) and then reinventory them (after your clocks are synced).

dhartford May 19, 2009 12:33 PM (in response to dhartford)That first link is definately useful. I was using http://www.jboss.org/community/wiki/Jopr-Installation, sorry for the confusion and the headache!!

Resources->checkbox the bad/inconsistent remote server->'Uninventory' button.
Go back to dashboard or auto-discovery, import again.
Fixed!!
