1. Re: Auto-Discovery couldn't find the JBoss AS Server that ru
mazz Jun 8, 2009 9:10 AM (in response to devon_fgu)Sometimes the jboss-as plugin cannot auto-detect JBossAS instances if those JBossAS instances were started using some custom mechanism the agent plugin is not aware of. For example, did you start JBossAS with the Java Service Wrapper executable? If so, the agent plugin cannot auto-detect this.
If you fail to auto-detect JBossAS (and this is true for failing to auto-detect any kind of server) you can "manually add" it to the system. Go to the parent resource's Inventory tab (in this case, the platform resource where your jboss-as instance is running) and use the Manually Add feature. See http://www.redhat.com/docs/en-US/JBoss_ON/2.2/html/Feature_Guide/sect-Feature_Guide-Controlling_Inventory-Manual_discovery.html
To further debug this, you can go look at your agent's log file and see if you get any error messages. You might want to enable debug mode in the agent and see if any debug messages help you. To debug the agent, see this: http://jopr.org/confluence/display/JOPR2/FAQ#FAQ-HowdoIgetdebugmessagesfromtheJoprAgent%3F -

3. Re: Auto-Discovery couldn't find the JBoss AS Server that ru
mazz Jun 8, 2009 9:41 AM (in response to devon_fgu)Ah... then it sounds like you don't even have the JBossAS plugin deployed.
Unless you deployed the JBossAS plugin, you won't be able to manage JbossAS (you won't be able to discover them or do anything with them).
In the Jopr 2.2 UI, select the menu option Administration>SystemConfiguration>Plugins - what list of plugins do you see? Do you see the JBossAS plugin?
If not, look in your <jopr-server-install>/jbossas/server/default/deploy/rhq.ear/rhq-downloads/rhq-plugins directory - do you see something like "jopr-jboss-as-plugin-2.2.0.GA.jar"?
If you have all of these, check your server logs to see if you get any error messages during the plugin deployment (happens early on in the log file - this occurs during the server boot up). -

devon_fgu Jun 8, 2009 8:23 PM (in response to devon_fgu)I cannot found the file "jopr-jboss-as-plugin-2.2.0.GA.jar" in <jopr-server-install>/jbossas/server/default/deploy/rhq.ear/rhq-downloads/rhq-plugins directory , the jboss agent is whether the default out-of-box agent or need extra download and install ?

As for your issue - JON itself does not ship with the jboss-as plugin. JON comes with a basic set of plugins and you need to download and install a separate "EAP plugin pack" that contains the bundled set of tested plugins for deploying in JON. This is why you aren't seeing JBossAS anywhere in the UI - because you have not downloaded and installed the plugin pack with the JBossAS plugin.
