2. Re: Servlet 500 error when using rich:effect
icai Jan 24, 2008 5:39 PM (in response to icai)Users press ctrl+f5 once they get this error ad re-invoke the application starting from index.jsp.
Error is coming while it 's deployed on remote server and being tested by distributed users. For local development I never got this. Probably the reason is that I use jDev's embedded OC4J, which restarts each time I run the jsp's.
I should get this error in local as well if I let OC4J running and keep hitting the app.
Can you please suggest a solution to this?
Thanks! -

6. Re: Servlet 500 error when using rich:effect
icai Jan 30, 2008 1:00 PM (in response to icai)Hi,
It turns out that I ca not migrate to new versions of Rich Faces as I am on JDK 1.4.2, though the release notes of rich-faces 3.1.0 also recommends 1.5 but none of my functionalities are affected because of that.
I still see the errors coming with new deployments. Though the error is logged in logs but it doesn't really bring down the application. Please let me know how critical are these errors ? Can they be show stopper for application's release ? -

I am not sure I understand you. Did you try to install RichFaces 3.1.4GA ? -
8. Re: Servlet 500 error when using rich:effect
icai Jan 30, 2008 1:10 PM (in response to icai)Yes I tried to install RichFaces 3.1.4GA . But application will not run as I am on JDK 1.4.2, then I saw the release notes of RichFaces 3.1.4GA and it mandates JDK 1.5
I can not upgrade the JDK as the as server is OAS 10.1.2 which supports till JDK 1.4 only. -
9. Re: Servlet 500 error when using rich:effect
ilya_shaikovsky Jan 30, 2008 1:18 PM (in response to icai)3.1.x branch supports JDK 1.4.2. 3.1.4 has also this support. There was a bug in the docs which already solved.
