jmx-console - permission denied

Hello,
I downloaded and installed jboss on MacOS 10.2 (unzipped it from the commandline). It appears to startup properly (and I am able to deploy/run my own webapp), however if I attempt to visit the jmx-console page I recieve the following:
HTTP ERROR: 404 /tmp/Jetty__8080___jmx-console//index$jsp.java (Permission denied)
RequestURI=/jmx-console/

There aren't any errors in any of jboss's logs.
Any suggestion?

shrug... no clue

does the jboss process have permissions to that dir/file?
