ModelMBeans : target object class not fount

I've managed to create my first modelmbean with a simple getter operation. However when I look at it in the agent I get an error saying : "UNAVAILABLE: javax.management.MBeanException wraps [javax.management.ReflectionException: The target object class jmx.erik.MYBean could not be found]".
Anybody any suggestions.

PS : I'm using JBoss 2.4.3

how are you adding your own classes to the server?

I have used the RMIConnector, registered a ModelMBean and set the managedObject to a class I defined. That class I have put in a jar file in jboss/lib/ext, where I hoped it would be accessible for the JMXAgent, but apparently it is not.

The details are part of the Sun RI implementation, but it most likely attempts to find the classes from its own classloader repository. To add your own classes there you need to register a classloader with the MBean server. Most convenient way is to add them through an MLet.

If I still remember 2.x series correctly, jboss.jcml file is an MLet file, you could try adding your lib there and see if it helps -- or create your own MLet that brings to classes into the MBean server class repository.

If I look at the Agent and ask for all its URL I see my jar file included in it, so what else can I do ?

Is this a problem just with the HTTP Adaptor not finding the class, can you invoke the operations of the MBean otherwise normally?

Yes using the HTTP adaptor I can perform the other operations. What I've also noticed is that when I make the argument read/write and try to modify the argument using its setter, JBOSS starts using 99% of the CPU and I have to stop it.

Yeah the CPU spin was a bug in Sun RI modelmbean implementation.

I recommend you update your JBoss to 3.x version if you can. At least we can try to fix/patch problems in that case if they persist.
