Hi.

I'm wondering if there is someone who has build and deployed BlackTie on Sun Solaris.

There are a few libraries that BlackTie depends upon that I'm guessing would be a little cumbersome to build on Solaris. That is, a lot of hacking in configure-files and make-files. Especially if we want to use Sun Studio CC as compiler and linker.

If you do not "support" building on Solaris yet, do you think that this is something you could help us out with? We are currently going to get our hands on, and do a first evaluation on BlackTie, to see if this seems to be the way to go (get rid of Tuxedo). If this goes well I think there is a good chance that we could contribute resources to the BlackTie community.

We started to set up an environment some time ago, but we had some other problem in our production that got prioritized (a bug in the weblogic-AS, isn't that ironic? :))

Hi Frederik,

I am not aware of specific users of BlackTie on Solaris as yet although we would be more than willing to help you work through trying to get it building on that platform.

The main components to build are:

Log4cxx - http://marc.info/?l=log4cxx-user&m=114908626202067&w=2
ACE + Tao - http://www.dre.vanderbilt.edu/~isisbuilds/documentation/ACE_wrappers/ACE-INSTALL.html implies sun studio is supported out of the box
Apache Portable Runtime/Lib stomp - no direct instructions but as log4cxx works I would hope this could too?
xerces - http://xerces.apache.org/xerces-c/build-3.html grep for "Sun CC"
cppunit - http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5390651
expat - no clear instructions here sorry! If this did prove to be non-working on Sun we could certainly look to alter the code that reads the configuration files as this is not a hude piece of code

For our own part, if you run the build and let me know any issues we will be happy to work around any issues. I think we exec gcc on linux but we can parameterize this (and the small set of compiler args we do use) for you no problem!
