Just downloaded - it looks great and is going to help me a lot.

One thing - the PDF version seems to retain a page header of "4 JBOSSMQ - THE JBOSS MESSAGING SERVICE" long after chapetr 4 ends. This may just be an artifact of the rendering to PDF, but this is just an FYI.

For now yes, we apologize about this. At $10 we are more thinking "kleenex" model than "upgrade".

What we might do in the near future is a subscription model where you pay a quaterly fee to get access to ALL the documentation that is put out by the group it is going to take a bit of time to put that in place but I think it will be more convenient for serious users that need to upgrade and follow versions of the documentation regularly. We will check if we can simply upgrade this on FL and get you a upgrade version.

Again sorry about that but for $10 a pop it is just not worth putting a complex upgrade system in place. If you feel strongly about this let us know,

                Regards,

                marcf

I purchased the documentation in early November, and I received an email from Flashline on Friday stating that the documentation had been updated. I was able to download the PDF book without making another payment.

                  The email message from Flashline:

                  -----------
Thank you for your recent purchase of JBoss Documentation.

Changes and revisions have been made to this document. The updated file containing the latest documentation has been transferred to your File Archive.

Go to http://www.flashline.com/Account/FileArchive.jsp to sign in and access your File Archive.

There may be additional revisions to this document. If so, you will receive an email notification from Flashline whenever your Archive is updated with new material.

At $10 a pop, I have no prob paying for updated material. It's a small price to pay to help support such a great project!

JBoss Book for Idiot??? what do you think

This will increase popularity, because of this book, an idiot can create an EJB on Jboss like reading a novel..harry potter..user guide.. may be..

                          Hi guys.

Just noticed that there is a new version of doco

                          - JBoss Administration and Development (2002-03-03)

                          on flashline.

A question, is it still reasnoble for me to expect to get a free update for this new version? I belive it is the third revision of the 2.4.x doco. I bought version dated Dec 14, 2001 and downloaded one update dated Jan 14, 2002.

I referred to my original mail from flashline which said
                          [pre]
As a reminder, you can always view your download history
and re-download at any time by accessing your account
                          archive.
                          Simply go to http://www.flashline.com/Account/FileArchive.jsp
                          [/pre]

                          anyone know anything? any ideas?

                          cheers

Any chance this book or new documentation has exmaples of the StandardJboss.xml file for large, meduim, small installations. The old versions of the documentation that I bought are great and very helpful but I still seem to be playing the hit and miss game when configuring parts of the server. What I am looking for is something like this

A large server is 500 CMP entity beans, 1000 stateless Session beans
A Meduim server is 250 CMP entity beans, 500 Stateless Session beans
A Small Server is 75 CMP entity bean, 250 Stateless Session beans

Then what the configuration would be for each one of these for Heavy, mild, light loads would be.
Heavy 1000 EJB lookups per second,
mild 500 EJB lookups per second,
light 100 EJB lookups per second,

Then maybe if there are some beans that are constantly getting hit what their individual setting should be.

The examples of Large, Meduim, Small, Heavy, Mild, and Light are just there as a point of reference. They could be any numbers but then I could look at all of the examples and kind of figure out what my settings should be based on our numbers.

Just an idea, I know we would pay $10 for this.
                            Thanks
                            Josh

Thanks for the support and the good nature.

We are putting out a new revised version soon and are working with Flashline to get all buyers (3000) to get a free update. This is not a small feat for flashline but we will try to get you the next revision free.

After that we might switch to a subscription format where you get all revisions of all documentation for $5/mo or something like that, stay tuned
