1. Re: Slow performance on Eclipse 3.5 Linux
huttonr Aug 4, 2009 10:23 PM (in response to huttonr)To add more information, a clean copy of 3.4.2 does not exhibit this behavior, so it is either a problem with 3.5 or something I have loaded that is causing the slowness...
If someone wants to try to figure it out, I will be happy to help. -

blafond Aug 5, 2009 3:09 PM (in response to huttonr)Could you include the exact steps you used? Which feature.xml? Did you modify the designer's zip file? UML2 v 3.0?
More info would be helpful to try and reproduce

3. Re: Slow performance on Eclipse 3.5 Linux
huttonr Aug 5, 2009 3:19 PM (in response to huttonr)Sure.
I followed the directions from this thread for 6.1:
http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=155346&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=10
so I downloaded 6.1, unzipped the package, and modified the feature.xml to show 3.1.0 instead of 3.0.0 in the UML2 requirements.
This version of 3.5 is a clean download of 3.5 with JBoss Tools and Teiid Designer -

rgros Nov 25, 2009 9:55 AM (in response to huttonr)Hello,
I face the same performance issue on Windows XP also.
I followed the install steps explained in the post.
It almost took me 4 or 5 minutes to create a model or to do an action on the Designer uneder 3.5.
with 3.4 everything works fine.
Any more ideas on this subject
thanks -

6. Re: Slow performance on Eclipse 3.5 Linux
blafond Jan 6, 2010 6:19 PM (in response to huttonr)We're working on a 6.3 Teiid Designer release utilizing 3.5 Eclipse. So far, the "slow performance" you described is repeatable, so it probably nothing you'all did wrong when installing.
Gonna have to investigate where "Eclipse" is spending all of it's CPU time. Even trying to select objects in Model Explorer & right-clicking to access menus is painful. arghhhh
I'll maybe try Eclipse 3.5.1 or 3.6 M4

seto Jan 7, 2010 1:48 PM (in response to blafond)I met this problem with 3.5.1, too. It's painful to use it in 3.5.
