Pb with JBoss3.0 beta + JDK 1.4

Hi everybody,
I downloaded the 3.0 beta version with Tomcat 4.0.2.
I'm running W2K SP2 with JDK 1.4 and I got tons of errors at startup of the fresh install (I mean without any app of my own).
So I tried to download and build the last nightly snapshot, but build failed with errors in the jdbc package.
So, I'm wandering what to download to have something running. At this time, I just need EJB container with CMP2.0 and CMR, no Web Container.

You've got two problems.

1) There is a bug in Sun's jmxri.jar that means it doesn't
work properly with java 1.4, a fixed version is already
overdue.

2) If you build for 1.4 there is some code in the
connector module you need to uncomment. The errors
should point you to the correct sources.

I've put up instructions on setting up JDK1.4 and JBoss 3.0 Beta (as well as Tomcat, MySQL, Eclipse, etc.). Check out at

You want to look at the section "Installing JBoss". There're specific steps for patching JBoss for JDK 1.4.

Note: The document assumes seperate Tomcat installation. Nevertheless, the tweak on JDK 1.4 should remain the same.
