Installation and Example for Jboss 2.4.4 Tomcat 4.03 and CMP

I wrote this document for people that are having difficulty setting up tomcat, jboss. I also wrote and example (step by step) on how to write a servlet which calls a EJB and writes to and reads from Oracle 9i or Microsoft SQL 7.
It is attached.
If you like it great. If you don't then that's fine.

Please add this to the JBOSS installation.
This will get JBOSS 3.0 running.

NOTE: Installation instruction below are for linux.
I will add them for windows soon.

Get J2EE j

http://java.sun.com/j2ee/sdk_1.3/
Get j2sdkee-1_3_1-linux.tar.gz

Get the standard edition here
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/download.html
j2sdk-1_4_0-linux-i386.bin


#mv j2sdkee-1_3_1-linux.tar.gz /inst
#gunzip j2sdkee-1_3_1-linux.tar.gz
#tar -xvf j2sdkee-1_3_1-linux.tar

in your login profile
export J2EE_HOME=/inst/j2sdkee1.3.1

#mv j2sdk-1_4_0-linux-i386.bin /inst
#chmod a+x j2sdk-1_4_0-linux-i386.bin
#./j2sdk-1_4_0-linux-i386.bin

Answer the question at the end with a 'yes'

Creates
/inst/j2sdk1.4.0/
Add JAVA_HOME
export JAVA_HOME=/inst/j2sdk1.4.0

Add the both to your path
export PATH=$PATH:/inst/j2sdk1.4.0/bin:/inst/j2sdkee1.3.1/bin
OR if you have oracle

export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$J2EE_HOME/bin:$JAVA_HOME/bin


PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin
export ORACLE_BASE=/home/oraInventory
export ORACLE_HOME=/inst/oracle
export ORACLE_SID=oracle8i
export J2EE_HOME=/inst/j2sdkee1.3.1
export JAVA_HOME=/inst/j2sdk1.4.0
export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin;$J2EE_HOME/bin:$JAVA_HOME/bin

Copy the xerces.jar file from your ANT installation into the jboss/lib/ext directory


Download xerces.jar

http://xml.apache.org/dist/xerces-j/


mv Xerces-J-bin.2.0.1.tar.gz /inst
cd /inst
tar -xvf Xerces-J-bin.2.0.1.tar
cd xerces-2_0_1/
cp xercesImpl.jar /inst/jboss/lib/ext/


Now you can run jboss ok.

Your PDF was xtremely useful. but i would like to know if u have a diff pdf for the Jboss2.4.4_Tomcat4.03 installed together. The PDF u gave was for the Jboss and Tomcat installed separately. I would really appreciate if u can send me the pdf which expalins the same example with the jboss and tomcat installed at the same place.

As I'm new to this forum, could anyone tell me how to download the pdf file? I've search through the page yet still can't find any links that's for downloading. I'm currently trying to install JBoss2.4.4_Tomcat4.0.3 in RedHat 7.2, facing some problems with datasource configuration. That's why, I'm much happy to see there's a reference that I could download.
