Jboss3+Tomcat4

JBoss 244 and Tomcat 4 was running very well on my machine. With the new beta version problems started on deploying the first application.
On dropping my war file into the deploy dir i get the following error:

Internal Error: File /WEB-INF/web.xml not found

By the way why has the directory structure changed, i see no advantages in the new structure.

THe same app was running very well with the last stable version of jboss/tomcat

I have the same problem and several others have the same problem oulined in other threads.

It would be good to get an answer to this !!

I my case it is the following problem:

I created the WAR-file with JBuilder 6.
After looking at the structure within the war file with winzip I discovered that there are 2 Versions of the META-INF directory. One in capital letters and one with lowercase letters.

"META-INF" contained all library file of jBoss
"meta-inf" contained the web.xml file

I think its a bug in JBuilder.
JBoss3-Tomcat is analyzing the directory structure case sensitive although JBoss 2.4.4 isn't.

The problem only seems to happen with jars built using jdk1.4 - I reassembled mine using jdk1.3 and they installed fine.

The problem seems to be specific to Catalina. JBoss3.0.0 with Jetty installs the original (1.4) jars without any problems.

I am using JDK 1.3.1 and I get the problem.

I even tried upgrading to Tomcat 4.0.3 and I still get the same problem.

I think I may give up and move to anither ejb container. There are several people encountering the same problem and no one seems to be able to help !!!

Try unpacking your wars and repacking them using jar (jdk1.3). It worked for me.

As I said earlier, JBoss 3 with Jetty works fine. Have you tried that? Unless you absolutely need some particular catalina funtionality Jetty is a good alternative.

Habit. I have used Tomcat forever and have a pile of webapps. I hoped just to be able to install JBOSS and redeploy my exisitng webapps into the same servlet container.

I will give jetty a try.

jboss-3.0.1RC1_tomcat-4.0.4 works fine using ears with wars inside exploded and compressed.
