I just wanted to let you know about the solution of
my installation problem:
I got the familiar connect refused exception with an obscure ip address, that i couldn't make sense of. Then I read in another thread somewhere in this forum, about an aol client doing something nasty in the background and since I had one (not anymore!) on my machine , I tried uninstall and voila! Reboot is now much faster too!
