JBoss3 really needs JDK (not JRE)?

Hi,

while starting JBoss3-RC1, I get this message:

run.sh: Missing file: /usr/java/jre/lib/tools.jar
run.sh: Unexpected results may occur. Make sure JAVA_HOME points to a JDK and not a JRE.

Do I really have to use JDK with JBoss3, in any case?

This is for jsp compilation.
You shouldn't need the jdk if you precompile the jsp
or don't use jsp.

Has anyone actually confirmed that just the JRE can be used (assuming you are willing to give up JSP dynamic compilation)?
