JBoss-3.0.3 Tomcat-4.1.12 [ MAPPING configuration error for

Hi,

Could anyone help me with install, configure JBoss3.0.3 with Tomcat4.1.12 . I downloaded JBoss-3.0.3_Tomcat-4.1.12.zip and unpacked it on my win2K machine. Are there any specific tasks to be carried out before starting the bundled server. Please do let me know if there are any online documents.

I started the JBoss server using the run.bat. I see a clean startup with no exceptions/errors but when I access http://localhost:8080 I get an error StandardHost[localhost]: MAPPING configuration error for request URI . I think I have missed out something very important. please do let me know

windows 2000 professional

The JBoss/Tomcat install does not include any deployed applications at the root http://localhost:8080. If you desire to test your install, try the jmx-console application by entering http://localhost:8080/jmx-console.

As for documentation, visit www.jboss.org, click on "documentation" on the left sidebar. Follow the links. There is a free quick start guide with basic essentials. I recommend one of the subscription documentation packages if you are serious about using JBoss.

Well, I was facing the same problem, but find the solution finally. Some of the answer were given in the FAQ section "http://www.jboss.org/faq.jsp#FAQ-WEB".

solution is as :
go to the {install dir}\server\default\deploy
create a {myapp or ur app name}.war folder.
Create a {WEB-INF} folder under that .war folder
Add two xml the web.xml and jboss-web.xml.
templates can be picked from jmx-console.war folder under the deploy folder.
access the site using the "http://localhost:8080/{myapp or ur app name}/"

I have similar (same problem) but also related to apache proxy/connector for Tomcat.

1. when I start JBOSS i can access http://localhost:8080/jmx-console
but I can't
http://localhost:8080/examples

2. if i start Tomcat only I can access:
http://localhost:8080/examples

3. if i start Tomcat only I can also access
http://localhost/examples
(I have examples configured in http.conf)

4. if I start JBoss and if I try access jmx-console through apache web server (with appropriate configurfation as 3)

so i can not proxy request from apache web server to servlet engine when JBOSS is running.

error message is:
Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /examples/servlet/HelloWorldExample.

Reason: Could not connect to remote machine: Unknown error


this works fine if Tomcat is started without JBOSS.
same problem happende with jmx-console (that can be accessed through tomcat when JBOSS is started)

Any explanation ?

The problem for the proxy is that you have to deploy the /examples app under JBOSS deployment dir before you can proxy to it. Its not the proxy or JBOSS that is the problem, just WAR the examples dir in tomcat and place it in the deployment dir in JBOSS.
