multiple record selction using checkboxes for multiple pages

How can I retain the checkbox state (selected) when I browse through muliple pages of rich:dataTable?

these multiple pages are achieved using rich:dataScroller and does not retain the selection of records which is based on checkbox selection.

The checkbox appears in first column which selects the whole row

Here is the detailed description of the problem

We are using RichFaces DataTable and DataScroller wherein the first column of dataTable is a checkbox.

We have 100 records to display in dataTable, and we display 10 records per page.

When we select checkbox on 1st page and navigate to next page and again come back the selection of checkbox is not retained.

We have backing bean which saves the state of checkbox but still it doesn't work.
