1. Re: jboss 4.0 zip file vs. source code
jonlee Oct 8, 2003 11:40 AM (in response to mahdad)The 4.0 set is still a developer's release (alpha) so you will need to get the source from the CVS. Things are still in flux and the zips for 4.0 contain relatively stable run-time distributions with which people can play.

mahdad Oct 9, 2003 8:34 PM (in response to mahdad)Thanks for clarification.
I've installed Wincvs, & Python but have trouble with cvs settings.
I am fluent with cmvc which is a sophisticated version control software internal to IBM.
With cmvc concepts in mind, sometimes I find it difficult to proceed with cvs without proper documentation.
Could you please refer me to a very fluent cvs documentation on how cvs settings work? E.g., which authentication method to use and which server is the source code repository located on?
What's cvsroot? Does it have to be local on my machine where any file I extract will exist? Or does it point to a remote path? Does it have to be in UNIX format or windows'?
I need clarifications such as these.

juha Oct 16, 2003 5:21 PM (in response to mahdad)The CVS instructions can be found here: http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=html&op=userdisplay&id=developers/guides/quickstart
Installing cygwin (http://www.cygwin.com) with the command line CVS is the easiest way to get started.
