ejb-ref advantage

Hi,
In a situation where a session bean accesses other entity beans, is there any advantage of using <ejb-ref> to specify the entity beans in the descriptor for the session beans. The other way of doing it is by looking up based on the ejb-name

ejb-ref and ejb-local-ref provide mapping usually when the calling EJB is not in the same application space as the other EJBs.
