JBoss3.2.3 source build fails on Redhat Linux but works on W

I run into the following problem with building JBoss 3.2.3 on RedHat Linux AS 3.0, JDK 1.4.2_02, but the build is successful on Windows XP Pro

BUILD FAILED
file:/home/surjit/jboss-3.2.3-src/server/build.xml:221: Could not create task or type of type: jjtree.

Ant could not find the task or a class this task relies upon.

You need the java command in your PATH for javacc for some reason.

I have java command in my PATH (set in .bash_profile and includes /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_02/bin), but I still get the same error. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks
