JBoss's embedded Tomcat vs. standalone Tomcat

I'm using Eclipse version 3.1m4 and MyEclipse 3.8.4beta. I have Tomcat version 5.5.4 hooked up and working with MyEclipse. I'm new to JBoss and about to download JBoss 4.0. I see that it has Tomcat 5 embedded in it. Can I run my own Tomcat 5.5.4 or must I run with the JBoss embedded Tomcat 5? Advantages/disadvantages to either?

don't muck around w/ trying to run your own Tomcat. The one in JBoss is integrated w/ JBoss security....
