Translating a leaf in a rich tree to an anchor (link)

I want to create a rich tree that will show folders containing report names. The rich tree is to be loaded from a file. When we click on a report we want to navigate to an URL (from a SQL server) that will display the report. So far, I have been able to create the folder and report structure in a rich tree, but I have not been able to figure out 1) how to detect if I am clicking on a leaf and 2) how to create an URL link from the output of the rich tree. Any ideas, examples or help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the information. The main problem that I am having is that once you've determined that a report is a "leaf" how do you make a clickable link from it that will go to a web page that is outside of the application. I've seen lots of examples of commandlink used to navigate within a page or within the application scope, but I've not found a clear and complete example to navigate to an external web page. Has anyone seen any good examples of this?
