Use in suggestionbox in a modalpanel

I am trying to use a modal panel for new record and update input. One component needs suggestionbox with it and that value also feeds a list which is the value for a datatable component which is updates after clicking on a commandbutton.

Here is the problem, the first time it operates correctly and the datatable is update. When I attempt to use the suggestionbox it again no suggestions are presented. The rest works correctly.

Environment:

IDE - NetBeans 6.0
App Server - Tomcat 6
RichFaces 3.2.1
