JBoss sudden shutdown

we are running a jboss 3.2.6 on suse linux 9.1.
after starting the jboss process everything works fine, but from time to time (between 1 and 12 hours) the jboss process disappears. there are no entries in server.log, no stack trace and nothing in the os message file

any hints on that?

I've been seeing the same symptoms under HP-UX with JBoss 3.0.8.
Can anyone out there suggest what we should be investigating?
