Sorry I've got no specifics for you, but I can tell you that all of the Seam examples fail when deployed on a fresh EJB3 profile installed by the 4.0.4.GA Patch 1 Installer. If you download the JAS zip file and manually install the EJB3 code as described in the distribution docs, Seam works so that tells me this is an installer issue.
