Installing JBoss/ejb3 without X-window on Linux

Jboss installer is needed to install Jboss 4.0.5 with Ejb support. But my linux machine which is a dedicated server does not have X-window installed. One solution is to install X-window on my client windows michine. It would be nice to have a text-based installer, or RPM for linux.

I installed the Gnome on the linux machine (FC 6), get an NoDefError "com.sun.X11GraphicEnvironment" when starting the JBoss installer.

Will the following two ways work?

1. Can I download source, and do "ant install" without GUI?

2. Can I install it on the windows first, then copy the entire directory structure into Linux?

Another way to get EJB3 support in 4.0.5 is to download the source distribution and build it with JDK 5.0. You get both the standard binary distribution plus a second distribution with EJB3.

is there an other way to install jboss on an server without X11 system than building it new.

If it works only with X11, would it be OK to uninstall X11 after the installation or is it needed to run jboss itself too.

I have a related question. I would like to use 4.0.5 and EJB3 on the Gentoo distribution. I would like to use the gentoo installer, which will build jboss from source, but need to make sure it supports EJB3.0. When you say JDK5.0 do you mean JDK 1.5? Also, is there anything else needed to support EJB3.0 when building from source and not using the jem installer.

Yes, 1.5 and 5.0 are the same thing. Sun decided to confuse us and change the way they number the releases. And to get EJB3 all you need is the JDK and the JBoss AS source.
