peterj Mar 12, 2007 11:52 AM (in response to dglaser18)Yes you can. You do not need to pre-compile the JSPs because recent versions of Tomcat come bundled with a compiler. For example, I have run JBoss Portal using just a jre. Of course, if you use a framework or other library that expects the jdk to be present, then you will need the jdk.

dimitris Mar 14, 2007 1:55 PM (in response to dglaser18)The check for the presence of a JDK has been removed from the 4.2.x startup scripts. A JRE does just as well.
